Joe Edwards is trained as a Mechanical Engineer, but is currently working as a Business Analyst for a major multi-national company. He graduated from Imperial College, University of London in 2001, and has also undertaken private training in IT systems and programming, data resource management, and integrated quality systems. He is also proficient in archiving, cataloguing and preservation techniques for various media types.

His exposure to genealogy has been constant throughout his life, from both his father Steve Edwards and his grandfather Charles Evans. He has spent considerable time learning the subject, and sorting, processing and cataloguing the papers of his grandfather. His preferred field is medieval genealogy, but also has experience in the elaboration of his own ancestry. He is a member of the Council and Assistant Secretary of the Harleian Society.

Joe has created the databases that underlie many parts of the Foundation's operations, and is responsible for the basic design of the Foundation's website, along with the Harleian Society's website. He is also Treasurer of the Foundation.
