The FMG Library

The FMG has a specialised library collection of material relating to medieval genealogy, heraldry, and prosopography. An online catalogue is currently being developed although it is not yet complete. The library is not open for general study access at present, however arrangements can be made for members of the FMG to consult works in the library by special agreement, and we can provide copies from library materials for personal study (see below), within the constraints of copyright law. Any donations of books, papers or other sources are most welcome.

The collection ranges from complete sets of Europäische Stammtafeln, the Complete Peerage, the Harleian Society volumes, the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography and other key modern works, to rare and inaccessible 18th and 19th century sources from across Europe. We also have substantial runs of a wide variety of journals.

Page copies from library sources

We can supply photocopies, for personal study only, of articles in journals or limited extracts from books. Copyright restrictions do not permit us to supply electronic copies at present. This facility is only available to Registered Users and Members of the FMG. Please note that many of our materials are in store and not readily accessible. Do not pay for copies without first contacting us (sources@fmg.ac) to confirm availability, or use the following form.

When we have confirmed availability for your request you can CLICK HERE TO PAY via our secure online shop. For those not wishing to pay online there is also a manual order form. The cost shown is for one page so please change the quantity to reflect the number of pages required. The current rates per page can be seen on our secure online shop. The minimum order is 20 pages (this is because of the overhead costs of processing payments). Page credits can be held for future orders if you do not require 20 or more pages immediately. Please remember that standard copyright restrictions apply so some requests may be rejected. If the material is available your order will be processed as quickly as possible, but bear in mind that all our officers are volunteers with limited time available.
