Review by Steven Edwards - 27 Apr 2002
This article is written in an erudite, rather impenetrable form of Spanish, however the FMG can provide an English translation of all the key information. Also as most of the article is taken up with an ahnentafel style list of ancestors it is fairly easy to navigate. Like all the author’s work it has been carefully researched and documented. The account starts in the post medieval period in 17th century Buenos Aires with the two sisters Margarita and Inés Cabral de Melo, both of whom gave rise to many descendants well documented in Argentinian genealogy (see for example FMG Source S-00000147). It traces them back through noble Portuguese families in the Azores, including their links to the discoverer of those islands Gonçalo Velho Cabral, and back eventually through an illegitimate daughter to Affonso III (1210-1279) King of Portugal. This provides a useful cross-reference to FMG Source S-00000149, by the same author, which takes the line back a further 8 generations from Affonso III.
