The Medieval
Lands project presents narrative biographical genealogies of the major
ruling families of over 140 territories in Europe. The author's
approach is to check information against primary source material,
which has enabled many traditionally accepted relationships to be
challenged. It is far from complete and many lines remain to be
fully evaluated. The territorial emphasis and wide scope enable
innovative comparative conclusions to be drawn about the development
of the role of the nobility in different locations over time. Ongoing
development of the data will be reflected in regular updates
